Links & Resources

Welcome to my homeschool links and resources page!  Here's where I post lots of fun and cool stuff I find - mostly as a way to keep me organized and remember where I find everything!  This was created as a benefit to me, but if it's helpful or blesses you as well, Praise God!  These links include everything from curriculum to games to audio CDs to helpful blogs.  Do I use all of them?  No!  If I start trying to do everything and get overwhelmed again, I have some friends holding me accountable that will metaphorically "shoot me."  Have I found each of them helpful at some point or another?  Absolutely yes!  Otherwise, I wouldn't list them.  So, enjoy and have fun browsing!

Curricula:

Classical Conversations: www.classicalconversations.com (LOVE this program and cannot say enough wonderful things about it!)

Abeka Book and Abeka Academy: www.abeka.com and www.abekaacademy.org  (We have used the entire DVD curriculum for the last three years.  Next year, we're opting for a half curriculum and I'm teaching Language Arts on my own.)

Sonlight: www.sonlight.com (Love their reading lists.  Plus, many of my dearest friends use it including Jase's amazing Godparents who have shared many wonderful things from them with us.)

Veritas Press: www.veritaspress.com (Love their timeline cards.  We use them in CC.  Plus I have two close friends that use much more of their curriculum so I've seen it "in action".)

Well Trained Mind: www.welltrainedmind.com
Peace Hill Press store location: www.welltrainedmind.com/store/ (Susan Wise Bauer is amazing.  We use Story of the World for history and will start using her Language Lessons book next year.)

Apologia: www.apologia.com (Love their science books!)

Answers in Genesis: www.answersingenesis.org (I have a dear friend that uses their bible and science and has shared some neat stuff from them.)

Tapestry of Grace:  www.tapestryofgrace.com

My Father's World:  www.mfwbooks.com

DK books: http://us.dk.com/static/cs/us/11/childrens/intro.html  (Yes, these could be a whole curriculum themselves.  We absolutely love so many of their products.)

Carson Dellosa: http://www.carsondellosa.com/cd2/default.aspx  (I've ordered everything from books to bookmarks, wall posters to chore charts from here.)

These are homeschooling pioneers that KNOW what they are talking about...

Jim Weiss:

OK - you have to know I am a HUGE Jim Weiss fan!  Thus, he gets his very own category.  This amazing storyteller / historian records the most amazing, wonderful CDs for children of all ages to listen to and learn from.  I had the pleasure of meeting him and talking with him in January and it was a sheer delight!  Check out his website at http://www.greathall.com/.  He has all of his recordings organized by title, time period, or age appropriateness.  I think these incredible recordings are such a blessing!

CC Smart Mama Brandy and the Half-a-hundred-acre-wood:  (She is the resource Queen!)

I don't personally know this woman at all, but boy, I wish I did!  She is one of the most incredible, resourceful CC Smart Mama I know!  Her blog is a wealth of information and encouragement.  I'm putting links from her blog here partially to help anyone else and partially because I want my own list of her posts and articles to refer to when I need them the most!

OK...just for fun...allow me to indulge myself.  The pictures below are from 2008 when Kira was in Kindergarten and her very first CC class.  She LOVED the human anatomy part and told everyone she was going to be a doctor.  She was only 5.  Siri was 3 years old and even back then wanted to do everything Kira did.  She wasn't in a class herself yet, but loved learning right alongside Kira!  These are the pictures of the human bodies they put together using The Body Book.
